Every dawn my life hums a prayer
Not for love nor someone dear
Every dusk it sings the same
A sorrowful lore of sobs and shame
A prayer bequeathed in hate than love
A satire of life, a caged in dove
Oh! My Lord, a life disavowed
To end I beg the pain bestowed
An irony of life, I must say
My end, I am forced to pray
Though the prayer I cannot read aloud
Cause it makes none of mine proud
To all it seems, my life so bright
Ah! My soul heaves a sigh of fright
Having lost the love and pride
My tears still seek a place to hide
I lie to them, to those I owe
Its lies that breed and lies that grow
I lie to them who bless me trust
I bury my soul in those lies of dust
Every dawn my life hums a prayer
Do not show thou Dusk, I beg with fear
Every dusk, I do the same
No dawn shall see me, I beseech in pain
Another day embarks with crimson skies
Another night will mourn my bleeding eyes
Thus makes me fear even when I’m dead
Will I still have with me a disgraced tear to shed?

[...] A Disgraced Prayer [...]
wow, a write up so tinged.
Buddy,
Thanks!
you know what this is what a gay boy thinks when he is alone… or when he is in his friends circle where everyone is cracking jokes on gay n laughing heartily on them n that innocent gay boy can’t do anything despite to listen them n laugh with them.. he deep inside sings this prayer…
the best part of this poem is
1. Though the prayer I cannot read aloud
Cause it makes none of mine proud
2. My tears still seek a place to hide
I lie to them, to those I owe
love it !!!!!!
I m queer too…
You know what, I am honoured, I am privileged, I feel for the first time successful and fortunate because I met you. You are the first reader who has finally understood the essence of this poem… And you have commented exactly what I wanted someone to say. Yes “A disgraced prayer”.. something I have always chanted and u are the one who has heard it thru ur inner voice!! Thanks
